Seaside
The artwork depicts an abstract oceanic scene with vibrant blue and turquoise hues blending seamlessly to represent deep ocean waters. White foam-like textures line the edge, creating the effect of waves crashing onto a sandy, textured shoreline rendered in warm brown and golden tones. The composition captures the dynamic interplay between the sea and land, evoking a sense of natural movement and fluidity. The use of color and texture highlights the contrast between the cool, swirling water and the earthier, granular surface of the shore.
Introducing Vicki’s new line of encaustic pieces! Encaustic is a mix of beeswax, natural damar tree resin and pigment, layered on a birch cradle board. Each layer is fused using heat to make a durable surface once it has cured. Much like needle-felted wool, encaustic is wonderful for achieving pronounced texture and depth. Vicki’s use of saturated colour, enhanced texture and sweeping movement carries over nicely to this beautiful artform.
This original encaustic painting was hand-crafted with encaustic medium and pigment stick on a birch cradle board.
Artwork dimensions are 13 × 13 cm (5 × 5”)
