Yellow Field

$240.00

This encaustic (beeswax painting) artwork depicts an impressionistic landscape painting showcasing a vast field of yellow flowers under a bright blue sky. The sky is dotted with soft, fluffy white clouds, stretching across the horizon. The field is densely packed with tall yellow blossoms and green stems, creating a textured and vibrant foreground. The thick application of pigmented wax and textured brushstrokes give the flowers a dynamic, almost three-dimensional quality. In the distance, a dark tree line separates the field from the sky, adding depth and contrast to the composition. The overall scene captures the warmth and vitality of a sunny day in the Alberta countryside.

Introducing Vicki’s new line of encaustic pieces! Encaustic is a mix of beeswax, natural damar tree resin and pigment, layered on a birch cradle board. Each layer is fused using heat to make a durable surface once it has cured. Much like needle-felted wool, encaustic is wonderful for achieving pronounced texture and depth. Vicki’s use of saturated colour, enhanced texture and sweeping movement carries over nicely to this beautiful artform.

This original encaustic painting was hand-crafted with encaustic medium and pigment stick on a birch cradle board.

Artwork dimensions are 20 × 26 cm (8 × 10”)
