Wee Fire on the Beach II
This encaustic (beeswax painting) artwork depicts a vibrant campfire burning in the center of a vast, textured beach. The flames are painted with bright yellow, orange, and hints of red, creating a striking contrast against the dark, sandy ground. The logs fueling the fire are charred and positioned in a realistic arrangement. Above the scene, a blue sky stretches across the horizon, dotted with soft, white clouds, enhancing the depth and atmosphere of the piece. The use of texture throughout the beach adds a tactile quality to the composition, emphasizing the invitation to join in the fun of the lively, warm fire.
Introducing Vicki’s new line of encaustic pieces! Encaustic is a mix of beeswax, natural damar tree resin and pigment, layered on a birch cradle board. Each layer is fused using heat to make a durable surface once it has cured. Much like needle-felted wool, encaustic is wonderful for achieving pronounced texture and depth. Vicki’s use of saturated colour, enhanced texture and sweeping movement carries over nicely to this beautiful artform.
This original encaustic painting was hand-crafted with encaustic medium and pigment stick on a birch cradle board.
Artwork dimensions are 20 × 20 cm (8 × 8”)
