Sweeping Sky

$385.00

This encaustic beeswax artwork is a vibrant and dynamic landscape. The foreground features a textured, undulating surface with rich greens, reds, and dark tones, suggesting a rugged terrain or field. Above this, a bold mountain range carved with strong, dark strokes contrasts sharply against the bright sky. The sky dominates the composition with swirling, intense hues of purples, pinks, reds, and blues, blending into a brilliant yellow and orange horizon, evoking the dramatic energy of a sunset or sunrise. The overall style is fluid and expressive, with a sense of movement created by the swirling brushwork and the layered application of color.

Introducing Vicki’s new line of encaustic pieces! Encaustic is a mix of beeswax, natural damar tree resin and pigment, layered on a birch cradle board. Each layer is fused using heat to make a durable surface once it has cured. Much like needle-felted wool, encaustic is wonderful for achieving pronounced texture and depth. Vicki’s use of saturated colour, enhanced texture and sweeping movement carries over nicely to this beautiful artform.

This original encaustic painting was hand-crafted with encaustic medium and pigment stick on a birch cradle board.

Artwork dimensions are 20 × 41 cm (8 × 16”)
